Pregnancy Arthritis: Rheumatoid Arthritis Pregnancy, Pregnancy Arthritis Hips

Healthy  pregnancy  is  what  every  responsible  woman  strives  for.  If  that  woman  has  a  chronic  illness  it  can  be  more  of  a  struggle  to  maintain  a  healthy  pregnancy.

If  a  woman  suffers  from  a  chronic  illness  like  arthiritis,  that  woman  may  have  to  think  about  certain  things  a  pregnant  women  without  the  disease  does  not  have  to.  You  can  have  a  healthy  pregnancy  even  if  you  are  suffering  from  arthiritis.  What  you  don't  want  to  do  is  put  any  more  emotional  stress  on  yourself  than  necessary.  Visit  your  doctor  regularly  and  follow  their  advice,  in  the  end  it  will  be  well  worth  it  as  you  hold  your  newborn  in  your  arms.

Things  you  should  look  out  for

The  fact  is  your  arthritis  is  probably  not  going  to disappear  once  you  get  pregnant.  The  best  thing  you  can  do,  as  any  type  of  chronic  illness,  have  your  arthritis  under control.  This  means  doing  the  prescribed  treatments  necessary  to  managing  your  arthritis  effectively.  You  should  be  exercising  regulary  to  strengthen  your  muscles  and  joints,  slowing  down  their  detioriation,  taking  medicine,  and  eating  well.

If  you  are  worried  that  you  will  give  your  child  arthritis  it  is  nothing  to  back  up  such  a  thought.  Arthritis  is  not  a  disease  that  is  heredity,  even  though  more  than  one  person  in  your  family  may  have  is.  Although,  environmental  factors  be  more  of  a  factor  in  whether  or  not  your  child  gets  arthritis.

Well-balanced  diet

Women  with  arthritis  may  have  different  concerns  about  eating  a  well-balanced  meal  regularly  then  pregnant  women  who  do  not  have  the  disease.  Most  well-balanced  meals  are  prepared  at  home,  a  woman  with  arthritis  may  have  trouble  cooking  due  to  pain  caused  by  arthritis.  There  is  swelling  in  the  joints,  in  the  knees  and  fingers  that  may  prohibit  cooking  meals.  The  best  way  to  deal  with  this  problem  is  in  three  ways.

  • First,  on  the  days  that  you  are not  in  pain  or  there  is  no  swelling  in  your  limbs  prepare  meals  for  a  couple  of  days  and  freeze  it.  Make  small,  easy  to  prepare  meals  do  not  stress  yourself  out  needlessly.
  • Second,  have  your  husband  prepare  the  meal  on  the  days you  are  unable  to.
  • Third,  it  is  fine  to  order  food  just  make  sure  it  falls  into  the  guidelines  of  a  fairly  well-balanced  meal.  Eat  a  burger  but  eat  it  with  a  salad  or  piece  of  fruit.

Weight  gain

If  you  are  pregnant  you  are  going  to  gain  weight,  especially  if  the  pregnancy  is  healthy.  The  problem  for  women  with  arthritis  is  that  the  weight  gain  will  put  extra  burden  on  their  already  inflammed  joints.  The  thing  that  might  help  you  manage  your  weight  gain  is  to  exercise,  but  once  again  because  of  your  arthritis  you  have  to  be  careful  about  what  type  of  exercise  that  you  participate  in.  In  times  like  these  your  doctor  advice  will  be  most  helpful,  tell  them  of  your  concerns  and  help  you  come  up  with  a  plan  that  will  enable  you  take  care  of  yourself  and  a  baby  sufficiently.

Conclusion

You  have  been  living  with  arthritis  longer  than  you  have  been  pregnant  and  you  need  to  realize  that  you  know  how  to  take  care  of  yourself.  Now  that  you  are  pregnant  there  are  extra  steps  that  must  be  taken  to  assure  that  your  child  is  healty.  Visit  and  ask  for  your  doctors  opinion  regularly,  take  care  of  yourself  and  more  importantly  give  yourself  a  break.
