Gastrointestinal Health: Diseases, Problems and Disorders

When  we  talk  about  gastrointestinal  health  we  are  talking  about  your  gastrointestinal  tract.  When  we  talk  about  your  gastrointestinal  tract,  we  are  talking  about what  you  eat  and  how  it  moves  through  your  body?  What  is  good  gastrointestional  health  and  how  can  you  maintain  it?

What  exactly  is  gastrointestinal  health?  It  is  hard  to  put  into  words  but  we  have  all  experience  nauseous,  vomitting,  cramping  in  the  stomach,  and  diarrhea.  This  is  your  gastrointestinal  tract  telling  you  that  something  is  wrong.  This  article  will  try  to  explain   what  exactly  is  the  basis  for  good  gastrointestinal  health.

Gastrointestinal..  what  is  it  exactly?

Gastrointestinal  health  starts  with  a  person's  digestive  system  called  the  digestive  tract.  A  persons  digestive  system  consists  of  the  mouth,  esophagus,  small  and  large  intestines.  As  you  chew  your  food,  your  salvia  acts  as  a  digestive aid,  along  with  your  teeth,  in  helping  to  break  down  your  food.  While  your  esophagus  acts  like  a  pipe  directing  your  food  to  your  stomach.  The  food  is  then  released  into  your  small  and  large  intestines.  The  small  and  large  intestines  function  in  different  ways..

When  the  digestive  process  is  completed  the  small  intestines  helps  to  absorbed  the  nutrients  in  your  blood.  The  large  intestine  is  your  colon.  The  colon  helps  to  remove  water  from  the  food  you  have  digested  which  then  becomes  solid  waste,  the  thing  we  rid  ourselves  of  when  we  go  to  the  bathroom.

Things  that  can  go  wrong

Things  can  go  very  wrong  with  the  digestive  tract,  especially  if  you  are  not  eating  right.  One  symptom  is  problematic  bowel  movements.  If  while  having  a  bowel  movement  you  are  experiencing  pain,  cramping,  and  your  stools  look  abnormal,  this  is  a  good  sign  that  something  is  wrong  with  your  gastronintestinal  tract.

Constipation  is  described  as  having  difficult  bowel  movements.  The  symptoms,  not  having  bowels  movement  at  the  rate  you  should, more  than  two  or  three  times  a  week  is  normal,  or  you  are  having  incomplete  ones..

Next,  is  IBS,  Irritable  bowel  syndrome.  Symptoms  of  IBS  are  any  type  of  pain,  cramps,  gas,  bloating  when  going  to  the  bathromm; frequency  in  your  bowel  movements  and  stools  appearance  has  changed.  When  it  comes  to  your  gastrointestinal  health  there  are  problems  that  only  can  be  fixed  by  surgery.  There  are  a  whole  host  of  anal  disorders  for  example  like  hemorrhoids.  As  well  as  anal  fissures,  which  are  classified  as  a  split  in  your  anal  opening. A  lot  of  things  can  go  wrong   when  it  comes  to  your  gastointestinal  health,  you  can  get  infections  in  your  anus,  abscess,  and  infections.

If  whatever  is  coming  out  of  your  body  seems  odd,  unusual  or  deviates  from  normal  bowel  movements  for  you  then  there  may  be  a  problem.  Lastly,  there  is  Colon  Cancer  which  surprisingly  is  the  second  largest  form  of  cancer  in  the  U.S . Colon  cancer  can  be  termed  as  a  quiet  disease,  in  the  beginning  your  body  will  no  symtoms.  This  is  why  it  is  important  to  be  screened  regularly  for  the  disease  once  you  reach  the  age  of  50.

What  you  can  do?

The  truth  is  eating  right  is  the  first  step  to  good gastrointestinal  health.  Of  course,  there  are  problems  that  can  arise  within  your  body  that  have  little  or  nothing  to  do  with  eating  right  but  for  the  most  part  it  is.    Eat  food  that  is  high  in  fiber,  drink  plenty  of  water,  exercise,  and  take  it  easy  whenever  possible  your  gastrointestinal  health  depends  on  it.
