Symptoms of EndometriosisThe most common symptoms are pain during periods the pain is far worse than normal cramps. Also you get pain after or during sex, you also can get heavy or irregular bleeding during your periods. Other symptoms can be any of the following: tiredness painful bowel movements, lower back pain; diarrhea or constipation and other stomach problems. Some women have no symptoms all women are different not all get the same symptoms or some do not get any at all. The pain is not always related to the size of growths. Tiny growths can sometimes cause more pain than the larger ones. Talk to your doctor about the symptoms that you feel. Causes of EndometriosisThe causes of this illness is unknown doctors have come up with a number of theories but none of them have panned out to a cause to this illness it still remains a mystery. Diagnosis of EndometriosisIt is hard for a doctor to diagnosis this illness it can only be done by laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is a minor surgery that is done under anesthesia and your abdomen is filled with carbon dioxide gas to make the organs easier to see a tube with a light in it is put into an incision in the abdomen. A doctor can also feel for growths by doing a pelvic exam. It is said that it is not safe to treat this illness unless the doctor is sure that it is this illness. Ovarian cancer sometimes has the same symptoms as this illness and hormonal treatment could cause a cancer to grow even faster. So your doctor has to be sure that it is this illness and not ovarian cancer before beginning any treatments on you. Treatment of EndometriosisNo cure has been found for this illness yet. Hysterectomy has been considered a for sure cure for this illness. Painkillers are usually prescribed for the pain. There are times when a doctor treats a person trying to get pregnant with hormones and fertility drugs because this illness has made them infertile. Other things can also make the pregnancy decision and experience harder. Women with this illness may be able to get pregnant but have a greater chance of miscarriage or have a difficult labor. There may also be birth defects in the child. If you are pregnant and have this illness talks to your doctor about the risks to both you and the baby. Menopause usually puts a stop to this illness but there are times that it can continue and you may need surgery for it. If you feel the symptoms of this illness after menopause be sure to tell your doctor about it right away to see what can be done. Usually he will recommend surgery but also tell him of any other health problems that you might have including and most importantly a heart condition.
