Eating Disorders Information and Body Image of WomenHave you ever thought that there was something wrong with the way you look? Do you think that you are too short or too tall, too heavy or too skinny? Do you ever feel that you are not pretty as others and feel that you do not like your self the way you are? You are not alone many people have felt this way at one time or another it is a normal feeling but can also lead to unhealthy behavior. Feeling this way is called poor self- esteem and poor self-esteem can also lead to eating disorders that can put your health in danger. There are many types of eating disorders out there that affect us. It can be confusing which one is which and how to spot signs of them in friends, family members, and even yourself. People who suffer from an eating disorder feel like they have something out of control in their lives. So they think that it is best if they feel in control of something in their lives, so they choose he amount of food they put into their bodies. This control makes them feel good about themselves they feel so good that they reject the signs and feelings that the yare really killing their body. If left untreated, an eating disorder can have many negative effects to your body it can even lead to death. The following are different types of eating disorders and how to recognize them: Bulimia – Bulimia is a very severe illness a person who suffers from this will make themselves throw up after every meal, take laxatives, or over do on the exercising. People with this illness will suffer from stomach pains sores around their mouth and problems with their teeth. Even though they think they are in control of what is happening to their bodies there are times when they feel that they are not and at this point it can become very dangerous to their health. And this is a sign of serious illness and needs to be treated right away because it could lead to the person’s death. If you know people who suffer from these illnesses it is best to get them help right away also if you feel you are the one suffering from this illness then you should be strong and admit you need help before you put your life at greater risk. If you start to have negative thoughts about your body and the way you look, think about all the good things about you things that make you special and unique. Look at your whole self – body and mind – in a positive way and write down what you see. Make sure you write something positive. Then read it out loud too your self everyday until you can believe that it is true. It Sometimes helps to do it wit ha friend.. It is always best to work with a friend it will help a lot more because it will help to see how others view you then maybe you can view your self better and start to feel better about the way you look. Also before you go to bed at night name three things about yourself that you like and what you did today that made you feel good about your self and the way you look. By doing this you can feel more positive about yourself! Also the most important things to remember are that you are the only one that matters and that what you think of yourself is all that matters not what others think of you. So no matter what anyone tells you just remember that you are beautiful, your one of a kind and that true beauty comes from the inside. True beauty is the person you are not what you look like. But true beauty comes from the kindness in your heart. Tell this tips to anyone who you feel has an eating disorder and is at the point of endangering their health. Because you can make a difference in someone’s life by doing this you can not only save another persons life but also your own. |
